Look closely at the work of Allan Rosenfield. You will see influences of everywhere he’s been. That influence went both ways, with Rosenfield making a subtle cultural impact in each place.

Rosenfield began his art journey in southern New Jersey. While a junior at Tyler School of Art of Temple University, he studied at Tyler in Rome. From Rome, he visited other places in Italy, Europe, the Middle East, and Israel. After earning his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he moved to Japan for eighteen months as a Fulbright Research Fellow.

In Japan, Rosenfield discovered techniques and formats that continue to be part of his work. Following three years in Los Angeles, he lived in New Mexico for twenty-six years. In 2017, he moved to Pittsburgh, where he paints and lives with his husband, Harley, and their schnoodle, George.
